EduPop! – Yoda

EduPop! will explore various representations of teachers and educators as they appear in media: novels, movies, television shows, music, etc. Some representations are wonderful, some terrible but all are presented for fun!

Yoda

The Star Wars Saga

1982 – present

With the release of The Rise of Skywalker only weeks away, it seems appropriate to spend an edition or two of Edupop! on Star Wars teachers, good and bad. Yoda could be at turns challenging, frustrating, infuriating and inspirational. He brought out the best in his students while encouraging them to rise above their worst impulses. He tapped into deep reservoirs of self confidence and motivation that his pupils never knew the possessed. He never accepted less than their best and he also admitted his own mistakes. His lessons were meme worthy and his students changed the course of history.

Not bad for a creation that was, originally, a puppet…

Here are a few of his most wise sayings:

* Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.
* Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.
* In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way.
* Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.
* Always pass on what you have learned.

Oh, and (SPOILER ALERT) he makes one VERY CUTE baby!
